Pawtuxet Village Farmer's Market - September 12th

Where we'll be:

Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market
Rhodes on the Pawtuxet
60 Rhodes Pl, Cranston
Saturday, 9am–12pm

Thundermist West Warwick Farmers Market
186 Providence St, W. Warwick
Thursday, 3–6pm
Rain!  We've got rain!  What a relief it is to have some rain (finally) falling.  Our irrigation pond was so low the past couple of weeks that we were unable to use it.  Not a good situation when temperatures are soaring.  Both farmers and their crops are happy now.

We have a new item to bring to the market this week.  Daikon radish!  It is a white root vegetable that has a spicy flavor and can be eaten raw, pickled or cooked.  Here are a few ideas:

Daikon, Carrot and Broccoli Slaw
Pickled Daikon Radish and Carrot
Daikon Chips

In addition, we will also be bringing the following items to market:

Carrots (with tops)
Chioggia Beets (with tops)
Skyphos Butterhead Lettuce
Lettuce Mix
Swiss Chard
Kale
Asian Eggplant
Purple Potatoes
White Potatoes
Hot Peppers (Ghost, Habanero, Serrano, Jalapeno)
Cucumbers
Tomatillos
Tomatoes (cherry, plum and slicers)

Holy Basil in the field.  It will soon be picked and dried for teas.

See you at the market!
